FLUKE 2016The hour is nigh. 10 days, actually. FLUKE approaches sooner than I had hoped and here's me with plenty not done and not enough time to do it in. *sigh* I always seem to roll this way. I need the "last minute tingles" to get any sort of progress on a project.
I should have two new Grimm Files mini comics ready by the 23rd and some refurbished minis and new illustrations.
Halloweentime. I can smell it on the wind. One of those pop-up Halloween Stores just put up its sign last week on an oft-abandoned building. That exact weekend I unashamedly plastered my face against the glass and breathed heavily for a solid 5 minutes despite the stacked boxes inside and the lack of a human presence probably meant that they were not yet open. I shook my fist at the sky, and continued to hope against hope that Sept. is when their doors will open. My excitement doesn't stem from a love of pre-made, mostly unimaginative costumes - no. I like to cobble my Halloween dudds from from scratch. And in that regard, Halloween Store is integral in my hunt for the perfect costume...for it provides cheap scraps and doo-dads that can be customized without financial ruination! Unfortunately, the time has not yet come and must continue to bide my time in the shadows, but... SOON KN1GHT Ph4ntom was kind enough to sketch one of my characters and mail it. It's pretty cool to see Imogen aka, the Iron Maiden, created in someone else's style. And the contrast is quite bold. Thanks, Joseph! This is inspirational. I'll return the favor soon :) Here's a link to his site Been kinda off my game lately. Too much stuff in my head/projects to deal with at once has put me in a bit of a slump, artistically. So, I've had to clean house to get myself back on track. Once the mass reorganization is complete, work will commence on special projects, We the Odd #2, and thumb-nailing the rest of the scripts for Demon Theory. The magic has ended and yet another, FLUKE whizzed by. This time along my friend Danielle came with and shard some table space with me. She is crafty woman in her own right, and it was a pleasure to have her join me!
I did substantially better than last year: 1. Found a choice table spot and had more people stop by for a chat. 2. Got the hang of using all 3 feet of table space to prime advantage. 3. MADE EYE CONTACT 4. Drank less 5. Experienced many pints less of nervous sweat. So...none at all. 5-1. Found a hidden gem of a Mexican restaurant parked next to a Chevron station. Best. Salsa. Ever. 6. Got invited into the inner sanctum of FLUKE participants. The Afterparty *insert confetti here* and this equals? PROFIT!! |
